Friday the 13th was an unlucky day for one criminal suspect hoping to evade the law in Mississippi.
East Brewton Police Lt. Russell Clausell the suspect, Logan Richard Barber of Lucedale, Miss., was arrested in East Brewton after the EBPD received information from George County Sheriff’s Department.
A verified warrant showed that Barber was wanted in Mississippi on kidnap charges.
“On Friday, at around 3:30 p.m., we were able to make an arrest in this case taking Barber into custody,” Clausell said. “Barber was wanted in connection to an assault and kidnapping of a juvenile in Mississippi.”
Clausell said the arrest was made with help from cell phone GPS technology.
Clausell said the juvenile that was the reason for the warrant, was found with Barber but was unharmed. The juvenile was taken to the offices of the East Brewton Police Department where she was interviewed by an Alabama Department of Human Resources case worker.
Barber was then taken to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton where he was awaiting extradition back to George County in Mississippi to face charges there with the George County Sheriff’s Office.
Clausell said it is also believed the Barber was wanted in Illinois on similar charges.
No information on the identity of the juvenile involved was released.
