Theater lovers will have an opportunity to enjoy an evening of fun when the Greater Escambia County for the Arts presents its next production.
The Greater Escambia Council for the Arts (GECA) will have a performance of “The Odd Couple: Ladies Edition,” with a presentation over two weekends in October.
The show, a delightful twist on the beloved Neil Simon comedy, will run from October 10-13 and October 17-20 at the GECA theater in Atmore.
In this female-led version of the classic play, audiences will follow the comedic and heartwarming journey of two mismatched roommates, Olive Madison and Florence Unger. The contrasting personalities of messy Olive and neat-freak Florence promise an evening full of laughter, tension, and a surprising bond that forms between them.
The production features a talented local cast, including:
Olive Madison, portrayed by Charity Strength; Florence Unger, portrayed by Anna Donald; Mickey, portrayed by Courtney Jade Bonie; Renee, portrayed by Malary Goldman; Sylvie, portrayed by Mikalia Feagans; Vera, portrayed by Monica Booker; Manolo, portrayed by Ayden Roynon and/or Simon Bush; and Jesus, portrayed by Braxton Wagner.
Ollie Jaye, show director, said the production will be one enjoyed by all.
“This version of ‘The Odd Couple’ brings a fresh perspective while maintaining the humor and wit that made the original so iconic,” Jaye said. “Our cast has been fantastic, and we’re looking forward to sharing this production with the Atmore community.”
The performances will be held at the GECA theater in Atmore, Octo 10-3 and Oct. 17-20. Show times will be “curtain up” at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, with a “curtain up” time at 2 p.m. on Sunday for all planned peformances. Doors will open one hour prior to curtain time.
Tickets, which are general admission, are available to purchase on-line at www.gecarts.org. Early purchases are recommended due to limited seating at the theatre.
