The Escambia County Habitat for Humanity is currently preparing for their annual Fall Festival event and fundraiser.
The event is set for Oct. 26 at Market Park in downtown Brewton beginning at 4 p.m.
Executive Director Shae Hines said the event has grown over the years and the 2024 Festival is shaping up to be a fun time for all ages.
“There will be trunk-or-treat again this year,” Hines said. “We will also be having a costume contest for all ages. There will be plenty of food, games, prizes and more for this year as well.”
Vendors will also be on hand offering unique items perfect for pre-holiday shopping. Vendor space is still available for $50. Vendor registration deadline is Oct. 18.
In addition to all the fun activities, there will be a special event that may have some sporting a different kind of makeup.
“We are having a ‘Pie in the Face’ event,” Hines said. “In order to get your name OFF the ‘pie in the face’ list, you must make a donation of $25 or more and bring it to the Escambia County Habitat for Humanity ReStore by Oct. 23 and you will be PIE FACE FREE! If you don’t meet the donation deadline, you WILL get a ‘pie to the face’ on October 26 at the Brewton Mural…on stage…in front of tons of folks.”
Hines also said those who don’t show up for the pies will owe a $100 fine.
Nominations can be made by calling the Habitat office or by message through Facebook or in person at the Habitat Restore.
The office can be called at 867-0095. The Habitat Restore is located on Douglas Avenue next to Jalisco’s. Registration forms for vendor space or for contests are also available at the Habitat offices inside the Habitat Restore.
Escambia County Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization with all contributions, cash or merchandise, eligible for tax deductions.
Donations of used household items are accepted at the Habitat Restore and are resold to provide funding for building and repairing homes for residents of Escambia County.
The organization is currently under construction with two homes in the area with plans to expand projects in the future.
