Ronald Crutchfield had no intentions of writing a book for publication — it just happened. And the book my become a new holiday tradition for families across the globe.
The Christmas Stallion, released in September, is currently available from major retailers Barnes & Nobles and on Amazon Prime.
Crutchfield, a life-long resident of Brewton, penned the book several years ago and just recently became interested in publishing it for the world.
“I wrote the book before my wife passed away several years ago,” Crutchfield said. “My granddaughter (Perry Updike) read the book and so did my daughter-in-law (Ava Crutchfield). They both thought it was good enough to get it published. I started looking into doing that and now we have a book.”
Crutchfield published his book through Page Publications with the book being made available publicly for the first time just last week.
“They folks at Page told me they thought it was going to be a good sale,” Crutchfield said. “I’m having a hard time with that – I just can’t get that in my mind because I’ve had a lot of bad in my life.”
The colorful cover and art for the book is aimed at getting the attention of younger readers. But, Crutchfield said, it is meant for everyone.
“I wrote the book in a way that the ready can’t really tell where they’re going in the story,” Crutchfield said. “I wrote the story so that it could be enjoyed by everyone — young and old.”
The book, selling for around $13, is currently available at Barnes & Nobles and Amazon Prime, but Crutchfield is working to make the book more accessible for local patrons.
“We’re working on getting the book into stores around Brewton,” Crutchfield said. “I hope to have it so that people here can just go to a store and buy the book.”
Crutchfield said information on where the book may be available locally will be announced as soon as information is available.
