A Brewton native is making plans for a January 2025 event to receive a prestigious honor for being an outstanding football coach.
Juan Johnson, a graduate of T.R. Miller High School, was chosen as the Class 7A Coach of the Year by the Alabama Football Coaches Association.
The honoree will be among those recognized for the honor in a ceremony set in Montgomery next month.
In a social media post from Baker High School, where Johnson coaches, the coach was recognized for the achievement.
“In his first year as head coach, Johnson led the Hornets to their first playoff win in 40 years and an overall record of 9-3 including the postseason,” the post stated. “We are thankful for Coach Johnson and his dedication to the success of our student-athletes both on and off the field! Congratulations Coach on this well-deserved recognition!”
Last month, Johnson made a social media post about his opportunity at Baker High School.
“Every year is special but this year was different as I was blessed with the opportunity to lead the Baker Hornets,” he said. “God has been so good!! There’s nothing like being at the right place at the right time.”
