Hours before the scheduled 6 p.m. start of the annual community-wide Christmas parade on Friday, the streets were lined with spectators to witness the event hosted by the Greater Brewton Area Chamber of Commerce.
Parking lots around the East Brewton and Brewton area were packed indicating the thousands of people who turned out for the annual parade.
W.S. Neal High School, Brewton Middle School and T.R. Miller High School bands brought lively music to the event with several of the more than 80 floats, vehicles, trucks and twirling beauties adding excitement, awe and some snow flurries to the annual parade through East Brewton and Brewton.
Taking top honors in the float juding event were Frontier Industries – first place; Brewton Public Library – second place; and Kidz Corner – third place.
The finale vehicle in the parade carried the most anticipated visitor into the community. Santa Claus was atop the Brewton Fire Department truck throwing treats to the waiting children and adults in the crowd.
