Cosby Hayes Martin Jr.
Brewton
Cosby Hayes Martin Jr., 65, of Brewton, passed away December 25, 2024.
Cosby was born in Brewton,, to Clevie Evans “Flossie” and Cosby Hayes Martin, Sr. Cosby loved Brewton and, except for his time in college, was a life-long resident.
A graduate of Troy State University (now Troy University), Cosby majored in finance and returned to Brewton, where he and his father founded Marco Land & Petroleum, a business Cosby continued until his death.
He and his wife Bentley Nelson Martin had the opportunity to enjoy family festivities in the days leading up to Christmas and celebrated their 29 th wedding anniversary on December 23.
An avid outdoorsman, Cosby was especially fond of bream fishing and turkey hunting. He loved land and timber management and saw great beauty in a pine forest! A family man to the core, Cosby took much pride in–and often commented about–the sincere love that he observed among his four children.
Cosby is preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife Bentley; his sister, Loretta Martin Davidson; his brother ,William Evans “Bill” Martin; his daughter Mallory Martin Witt (Harry); sons, Cosby Hayes Martin, III (Hannah), Stephen Nelson Martin and William Stone Martin; grandchildren, Cosby Hayes “Bo” Martin, IV, Harry Armand “Harrison” Witt III, and Ella Louise Martin.
A Celebration of Life service was held Monday, December 30, 2024 at 3 p.m. at First Methodist Church of Brewton, with the Rev. Chris Patterson officiating. Pallbearers are Kurtis Aucion, Logan Bryan, Eli Cook, Miller Hart, Ryan Jackson, Dylan Shadinger, O’Neil White, and Drew Williamson.
Interment followed at Union Cemetery in Brewton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to First Methodist Church of Brewton.

Buford Jason Lowery
Brewton
Mr. Buford Jason Lowery, 47, of South Baggett Circle in Brewton, passed away Friday, December 20, 2024.
He was a native and life long resident of Brewton. Mr. Lowery was of the Christian faith, a 1995 graduate of W.S. Neal High School, and was an ENI Tech at Georgia Pacific with 15 years of service. Jason enjoyed golf, fishing, working on things, and was an avid Auburn fan.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Kris Halford Lowery of Brewton; three children, James ‘Caleb’ Lowery of Brewton, Jason ‘Thomas’ Lowery of Brewton, and Kendall Marie Lowery of Brewton; his parents, Buford and Vicki Lowery of Brewton; two brothers, Marty (Rhonda) Lowery of Thomasville and Philip (Tracey) Lowery of Brewton; and his pets, Buddy, Gus, and Charleigh.
Funeral services were held Sunday, December 29, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Lee Jernigan, and Jerry Whitfield officiating. Interment followed in Union Cemetery in Brewton.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to his children’s savings accounts at Gulf Winds of Brewton, the W. S. Neal High School Volleyball program, or The North Baldwin Storm Volleyball Club for Kendall Lowery.

John Curtis Majercik
Auburn
Mr. John Curtis Majercik, 75, of Auburn, passed away Monday, December 23, 2024 in Auburn.
He was a native of Mobile, and a former resident of Brewton.
Mr. Majerik was a U.S. Air Force Veteran and was retired from the State of Alabama Department of Transportation.
He is survived by a daughter, Kimberly (Kyle) Vannoy; mother of Kimberly, Sylvia Majercik; a sister, Cindy (Reese) Robinson; three grandchildren, Will, Parker and Liam; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob John and Madlyn Vivian McGaha Majercik; a brother, Joey Majercik; and a sister, Regina Stanfield.
Graveside services were held Friday, December 27, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Cedar Creek Cemetery with Speaker Joe Cain Dozier officiating. Interment followed in Cedar Creek Cemetery in Brewton.

Phyllis Cole Parker
Brewton
Mrs. Phyllis Cole Parker, 73, of Grapefarm Road in Brewton, passed away Monday, December 23, 2024 at her residence after a brief illness.
She was a native and life long resident of Brewton. Mrs. Parker was a member of the Douglas Chapel Methodist Church and was a retired school bus driver from the Escambia County Board of Education with 20 years of service. She loved her grandchildren, feeding birds and fishing.
She is survived by her husband, Willie Parker of Brewton; two daughters, Stephanie (James) Lambeth of Brerwton and Carrie (Chad) Moore of Castleberry; two brothers, Michael Cole of Brewton and Tommy (Becky) Cole of Brewton; five grandchildren, Rian Lambeth, Logan Lambeth, Kara Smith, Zachery Smith and Kaylee Smith; and an aunt, Dot (Ted) Russell of Milton, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Myrtle Alford Cole; and a brother, Bobby Cole.
Funeral services were held Thursday, December 26, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Pastor Theresa Forshee officiating. Interment followed in Douglas Chapel Cemetery in Brewton.

Cleveland ‘Cleve’ L. Roberson
Brewton
Mr. Cleveland L. Roberson, age 84, a lifelong resident of Barnett Crossroads, Brewton, Alabama, entered Heave’s Gates Saturday, December 14, 2024.
He was born February 23, 1940, the second born son of the late James Barley and Essie Roberson. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Barnett “Betty Kay” Roberson; children, Jamie (Danny) Parker, Linda (Tony) Richburg, Liz (Joey) Carter, Sue (Jamey) Higdon, and Rusty (Andrea) Roberson; grandchildren, Zach (Dana) Richburg, Frank (Mandi) Carter, Jolene (Shawn) Yuhasz, Jennifer (Brian) McDonald, Jessica (Todd) Levin, Karie (Joe) Fleming, Jeremy (April) Higdon, James (Tabitha) Robinson, Emily (Ryan) Michaels, Luke (Morgan) Roberson, Chase Rider, Hannah (Lane) Weaver, Donnie (Jennifer) Parker, Wendy (Brian) Parker; twenty-two great-grandchildren; sister, Jean Lawson; and brother-in-law, Randall Ellison. He was preceded in death by his brother, Chesley Roberson, and sister, Jeanette Ellison.
Cleve will be remembered by many and forgotten by few. He was highly respected in the business world due to his hard work and innovative ideas in many fields, including home building & mechanical industrial construction (Roberson Construction), trucking (JR’s Trucking), auto parts (C & B Auto), chipping (REPI) and finance, (Cleve Roberson, Inc.). He was in business for 52 years and had employed up to 400 personnel at one time.
Cleve served on the Southern Pine Electric Co-op Board for 37 years and Power South’s Board for 12 years. He was also a Master Mason and Shriner.
Cleve lived an incredibly full life. His greatest love was his family and friends. He loved large family gatherings at his house or the “Gulf” (Fort Morgan). He loved net fishing, boat riding, and wood working.
Cleve served as a deacon of Cannan Freewill Baptist Church for 10 years, and at New Bethlehem Baptist Church from 1978 until his death.
A memorial service was held for Cleve on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Craver’s Funeral Home.
Pearline O’Hara
Brewton
Mrs. Pearline O’Hara passed away Tuesday, December 24, 2024 in Pensacola, Fla. She was a native of Brewton, a former resident of Pensacola, before moving back to Brewton.
Mrs. O’Hara was a member of the Wallace Methodist Church and was a retired operator from AT&T with 24 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard F. O’Hara; a brother, U.B. Franklin; and sisters, Sorothy Mock, Elsie Creeden, Alma Hammac, Lola Baxter and Jean Kendall.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at 2:00 p.m.. at Wallace Methodist Church Cemetery with Pastor Mike Bledsole officiating. Interment followed in Wallace Methodist Church Cemetery in Brewton.
