BCA elects Gordy

The Business Council of Alabama announced Tuesday it has elected new officers and members of its board of directors. The term of office for all these volunteer leaders begins Jan. 1.
BCA officers for 2007 are:
Chairman, Carol F. Gordy, chairman and chief executive officer, Natural Decorations Inc., Brewton. Gordy is the first woman to serve as head of the organization in its 21 years.
First Vice Chairman, David Muhlendorf, president, Paper &Chemical Supply, Sheffield
Second Vice Chairman, Phil Dotts, Principal, Public FA, LLC, Huntsville
Immediate Past Chairman Thomas L. Hamby, president, BELLSOUTH, Birmingham
Treasurer, Terry Kellogg, executive vice president, BlueCross BlueShield of Alabama, Birmingham
Secretary, C. Charles Nailen Jr., president and owner, BBG Specialty Foods Inc. and BBG Foods Inc., Dothan
Legal Counsel, Fournier J. “Boots” Gale III, executive committee chairman, Maynard, Cooper &Gale PC, Birmingham
The BCA also elected 16 new members to its board of directors, while 79 board members were re-elected and will continue their service to the statewide association, which represents the interests and concerns of businesses and industries throughout Alabama.
The Business Council's 95-member board of directors is composed of businessmen and businesswomen representing a diverse group of Alabama companies, of all types and sizes. With guidance from members of BCA's technical committees, the board establishes the Business Council's annual legislative agenda and determines BCA positions on other key issues. The agenda is presented to the Alabama Legislature at the beginning of each regular session.
