Any one of the six errors they made could be pinpointed as their downfall in the opener, but it was not hard to figure out which miscue cost the Jefferson Davis Community College Lady Warhawks the second game of Saturday's home twinbill against the LSU-Eunice Lady Bengals.
A two-out, outfield error in the top of the seventh of a 4-4 game kept the inning alive and led to two decisive runs in Eunice's 6-4 victory.
The two runs capped off a big comeback by the LSU-branch school, which trailed 4-0 through five innings.
The Lady Bengals strung together five hits, three of which went for extra bases, in the top of the sixth when they rallied with four runs to tie the game.
The Lady Warhawks (3-7) took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on a single by Tiffany Cayson, a double by Jayla Davis and a single by Carter. JDCC doubled that lead to 2-0 in the third inning on a single by Chasity Nicholson and an RBI double by Cayson. The Lady Warhawks doubled the lead again in the fifth inning, this time to 4-0 when Tanna Fontes was hit by a pitch, stole second and scored on Kayla Galloway's fourth hit of the day and third double. Davis followed with a walk to set up an RBI single by Carter, who along with Galloway led the hitting attack with two hits each.
LSU-Eunice took advantage of the six JDCC errors to win the first game 8-1.
The Lady Bengals plated four runs in the top of the first inning off losing hurler Amberly Whitworth and never looked back, as they pounded out 11 hits for the game.
After LSU-Eunice stretched that lead to 6-0 with a pair of runs in the top of the third, JDCC plated is lone marker in the bottom half of the inning when Jodi Lisenby walked and scored on a double by Galloway.
The visitors tacked on an insurance run in both the sixth and seventh innings.
Jayla Davis and Galloway both had two hits for the Lady Warhawks.
JDCC, which hosted Pensacola Tuesday, is off until next Tuesday when it travels to Snead State for a 4 p.m. twinbill.
