It may have been their first area games of the season Friday and Saturday, but the No. 1-ranked W.S. Neal Eagle baseball team kept on rolling as they swept the Cottage Hill Christian Academy Warriors to improve to 13-0 overall this season and to 2-0 in area play.
Friday night in Mobile, W.S. Neal took down the Warriors 12-0 to take game one of the series. In game two Saturday in East Brewton, W.S. Neal earned a 12-4 win to improve to 12-0 this season and take the series. In game three, W.S. Neal won 10-0 to improve to 13-0.
“It is big when you can win these area games because they are the only games that count,” W.S. Neal head coach Coy Campbell said. “We were not taking anybody for granted. Brian pitched well last night and we swung the bats decent. Today, we got up on them early and then kind of laid down a little bit. We were not playing like our normal selves but our pitching has been good all year and has thrown well enough to keep us in games. We are just glad to get the win and move on to the next one.”

Game one: WSN 12, CHCA 0
In game one, Brian Settle pitched a two-hit shutout to help W.S. Neal to the 12-0 win.
Settle went the complete game six innings on the mound to get the win and allowed two hits, no runs, walked one and struck out eight.
At the plate, Christian Purvis, Damion Williams and Settle had two hits each. Jeremy Myers, Dylan Godwin, Mike Williams, Tyler Joyner and Cam Blackman all had hits. Settle and Godwin both had triples while Mike Williams had a double. Settle had two RBIs and Purvis, Damion Williams, Godwin, Mike Williams, Joyner and Keith Bradley had one RBI each.

Game two: WSN 12, CHCA 4
In game one Saturday in East Brewton, every W.S. Neal starter had a hit as the Eagles put up another 12-spot on the Warriors to take a 12-4 win and claim the area game series win.
Purvis, Myers, Damion Williams, Settle, Godwin, Mike Williams, Joyner and Blackman all had singles while Miles Powell had a homerun in the sixth inning.
Keith Bradley earned the win on the mound going 5 1/3 innings and allowing nine hits, three runs, walked none, hit one and struck out four. Myers went the final 1 2/3 innings and allowed one hit, one run, one walk and struck out four.

Game three: WSN 10, CHCA 0
In the third game, W.S. Neal earned another shutout over the Warriors as they claimed a 10-0 win.
Blackman earned the win on the mound going six innings and allowed two hit, one walk and struck out seven.
At the plate, Mike Williams led the Eagles with a 3-for-4 day, one RBI and one triple.
Purvis had two RBIs and Brandon Carmichael had a double.
