Veto of legislator pay raise expected

Gov. Bob Riley yesterday vetoed the recent pay raise legislators voted for themselves. That action should come as no surprise.
After many Alabamians voiced concern over the more than 60 percent raise in legislator pay, Riley took an action that was certainly expected.
Although some politicians, and private citizens, contend that a raise for the group had not been seen in more than 10 years, the self-voted raises gave many a reason to be concerned. Riley was no exception.
Kudos to Riley for vetoing the resolution.
