Elliot leads Samford University

Former W.S. Neal athlete Bob Elliot has helped the Samford University Bulldog track team to win this season.
Elliot, a redshirt sophomore, won the men’s high jump title with a jump of 6-8 in the 2013 Southern Conference Championships a few weeks ago in North Carolina.
During an indoor meet back in January in the Crimson Tide Indoor Opener, Elliot tied for a second clearing of 6-8.75 to help set a new personal best.
Eliot won the Men’s Outstanding Field Performer during the 2012 outdoor season for the Bulldogs.
During his freshman year in 2011, during the indoor season, Elliot competed in all five meets during the season and set a school record in the triple jump as he finished eighth at the SoCon Championships. He also earned the bronze medal in the high jump at the conference meet when he cleared a personal best height of 6-6.75. Elliot set his collegiate personal record in the long jump in the first competition of the season when he jumped 21-1 at the Blue Raider Invite. During the outdoor season, Elliot took a medical redshirt.
Last season in the indoor season as a redshirt freshman, Elliot competed in six meets and set a school record in the triple jump during the Birmingham Ice Breaker. He also earned a bronze medal in the SoCon championships in the triple jump. Elliot added team points with a sixth-place finish in the high jump. During the outdoor season, Elliot competed in three meets and was named the SoCon Men’s Freshman of the Year at the conference championships after earning team points in the high jump, triple jump and long jump. He also won the high jump at the Samford Multi with a personal-best height of 6-9.5
Eliot is the son of Bob and Benita Elliot.
