Melton receives law award

William D. Melton, a native of Pine Apple, Ala. and resident of Evergreen, Ala., received the Sam W. Pipes Distinguished Alumnus Award from the University of Alabama School of Law. The award was given at the Farrah Law Alumni Society Banquet, held at the Renaissance Ross Bridge Golf Resort and Spa in Hoover, Ala.
Melton earned his law degree from the University of Alabama Law School in 1966. During law school, he served as President of the Student Bar Association. He joined the Farrah Law Society in 1970 and has been a loyal member ever since. Melton served Farrah as Vice Chair from 1992-94, and as Chair from 1994-96. Melton also served on the Law School's Capital Campaign Steering Committee in the mid nineties. Most recently, he served as Vice-Chair of the Building Excellence Campaign Committee. Currently, Melton is Secretary for the Law School Foundation Board. Notably, he also funded the William D. Melton Multimedia Classroom; one of the most frequently used classrooms in the Law School.
