A Brewton woman believes her grandchildren are alive today because God placed the right people at the right place at the right time.
Humphries is the grandmother to two children injured in an April 18 accident on Ridge Road. The accident found the youngest of the children taken by Life Flight to Sacred Heart Hospital and the other child spending some time at D.W. McMillan Hospital in Brewton.
The accident occurred shortly before 8 a.m. last Wednesday as the car, driven by Tara Martinez of Brewton, left the roadway and flipped several times before landing upside down on the lawn of a home on Ridge Road.
Hallie Crumpton, 14 months old, suffered a broken nose and other cuts and scrapes, Humphries said.
Humphries said her grandson, 2-year-old Cameron Crumpton, received a cut behind his ear and other bruises and scrapes in the incident.
He was treated at D.W. McMillan Hospital and was released Wednesday evening.
The children were in the care of Martinez at the time of the incident, Humphries said.
Humphries said Cameron was not restrained; however, Hallie was in her car seat at the time of the incident.
Repeated attempts to determine if Alabama State Troopers or other officials have filed charges against Martinez in connection with the accident have been unsuccessful.
Trooper officials said Martinez was driving with a suspended license at the time of the accident.
