A parking lot fight was uncharacteristic for T.R. Miller Lady Tiger and current WNBA basketball player Deanna Jackson, a WNBA spokesperson said in suspending her indefinitely.
Jackson is facing a $20,000 civil suit in Israel after the incident.
Jackson was arrested last Wednesday after she got into a parking lot fight with Ina Gourevitch, a player for Elitzur Ramle.
Jackson, who had been playing winter ball for Anda Ramat Hasharon in Israel, and Gourevitch got into a skirmish in the closing moments of the league championship game between the teams.
Police said the clash carried over into the parking lot, where Jackson allegedly sought out Gourevitch and broke her nose with a punch.
Jackson was supposed to leave Israel the next morning and report to the Chicago Sky for preseason workouts. The Sky play its first preseason game next Wednesday.
Chicago officials suspended Jackson indefinitely.
Jackson will have to stay in Israel until Thursday when she will appear in court.
The upcoming season is Jackson's sixth in the WNBA. She was drafted by Cleveland in 2002 after she completed her completed her collegiate career at Alabama-Birmingham.
She was drafted by Indiana in a dispersal draft in 2004 after the Cleveland franchise folded and was drafted by Chicago in the 2006 dispersal draft.
Jackson was a member of the 1995 and 1996 T.R. Miller state champions and graduated from the school in 1998.
She is the school's all-time career scoring leader with 2,398 points.
