Brewton’s newest business will be holding an open house and ribbon cutting event to officially introduce themselves to the community.
Davita Dialysis, located in the Brewton Heights Shopping Center, will celebrate their grand opening Tuesday, May 21 from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Felecia Amerson, manager of the new facility, said the event is planned to allow members of the community — businesses and residents — to get to know the people and the company offering dialysis services for the Brewton area.
“This open house will be a chance for patients and residents of the community to come in with their families and get to know a little more about Davita and what we have to offer,” Amerson said. “We are looking forward to being a part of Brewton.”
Although the center is not open for business, Amerson said work is continuing and patients should be able to receive care in the next month or so.
“We are shooting for the first of June,” Amerson said. “We are getting everything in order to be ready to work with patients as quickly as possible.”
Along with Amerson will be a full staff of doctors, nurses and technicians providing quality dialysis treatment.
“We will have seven to 10 employees working here to take care of our patients,” Amerson said. “We also have a staff of seven doctors that will be making rounds here at the center.”
Although dialysis is typically done in a clinical setting, Amerson said Davita is able to offer an alternative to the traditional form of dialysis.
“We are also happy to offer peritoneal dialysis services,” Amerson said. “That kind of service will offer more freedom for the patients with the possibility of taking care of dialysis at home.”
Amerson said the move to Brewton has been a relatively easy transition with a warm welcome from the community.
“We have just be overwhelmed with the community response,” Amerson said. “We have had a great welcome since we got here.”
Amerson said current dialysis patients can have their care plan transferred to Davita if they are looking for a change from their current care.
“We’re here to help the patient,” Amerson said. “We will help with any transfers or setting up care for anyone who needs our services.”
