Blueberry Fest fun for the family
Blueberry ice cream, blueberry cobbler and just plan blueberries - those sweet treats alone would be enough to celebrate for an entire day, but the 27th annual Alabama Blueberry Festival will have even more fun for the entire family.
The weekend will kick off with a new event - Movies Under the Stars, sponsored by Southern Linc and hosted by the Kiwanis Club at the City Park in downtown Brewton. Residents can bring blankets or lawn chairs and settle in at 8 p.m. for popcorn and a movie, “Night at the Museum.”
This event is a great addition to the annual festivities and promises to be great fun for the family.
The next morning, the Blueberry Festival kicks off, with vendors selling crafts and food - including that delicious blueberry ice cream and cobbler - throughout the day and entertainment from bands, cloggers and singers on stage to a magician and a Barney Fife look-a-like wandering the festival grounds at Burnt Corn Creek Park.
A motorcycle ride and car show will also be available to offer another form of entertainment for those who enjoy them.
The children's section this year will feature rides and a water slide, so children should bring their bathing suits to join the fun.
The festival kicks off at 9 a.m. and lasts until 5 p.m. Events will continue throughout the day.
Blueberry Festival has so much to offer this year, and the event draws visitors from around our area to our city.
We hope that Brewton residents will also turn out Saturday to celebrate what our community has to offer.
