Mr. Charles Hartsfield, 87, died Wednesday, June 13, 2007, at his residence after a brief illness. He was a native of Lamont, Fla., and a former resident of Ft. Pierce, Fla., before moving to Brewton. He was a member of First Missionary Baptist Church in Pace, Fla., and a former member of New Hope Baptist Church in Ft. Pierce. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served in World War II, and was a retired machinest from FMC Corporation. He was preceded in death by his wife, Verna Ilene Rhoden Hartsfield.
He is survived by a son, Daniel (Karen) Hartsfield of Columbia, Mo.; a daughter, Linda (Rev. Joseph) Johnson of Brewton; two stepdaughters, Kathryn (Eugene) Davis of Vero Beach, Fla., and Patricia (Travis) Williams of Ft. Pierce; a brother, Dill (Vonita) Glover of Tallahassee, Fla.; a sister, Myrtle (Clinton) Daughtry of Tallahassee; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 16, at 10 a.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Joseph Johnson and the Rev. John Hancock officiating. Burial followed at Green Acres Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
