TRM cross country runs in Jay, will run in home meet Saturday at BMS

In the 8th annual J.D. Mac Invitational Saturday at Bray/Hendricks Park in Jay, the T.R. Miller boys and girls cross country teams took place in another meet for the 2013 season.
In the meet Saturday in Jay, the T.R. Miller boys finished 10th out of 10 teams while the Lady Tigers placed third out of eight teams.
For the boys, Travis Carlson led the way with a time of 19:01 for 29th place.
Dillon Simmons was 45th with a time of 19:46 while Micah Flores finished 58th with a time of 20:40.
Noah Morris, Nash Diercks and Stewart Campbell took 68th, 69th, and 70th for T.R. Miller respectively. The trio ran times of 21:28, 21:52, and 21:56.
Gavin McNeil rounded out the Tigers with a time of 24:06 as he finished in 84th place.
For the girls, Katie Nelson took first overall in the race with a time of 18:53 while Allie Nelson took second with a time of 19:48.
Kelsi Lum was 26th with a time of 23:40 while Tarah Townson took 41st with a time of 25:13.
Morgan Rowell was 44th with a time of 25:35.59 while Auburn Schoonover was 46th with a time of 25:41.
Shelby Evans was 53rd with a time of 26:40.
Katie Nelson finished as a national silver standard runner for her performance in the race.
“We had great times and we showed lots of improvement,” T.R. Miller cross country coach Rob Atkinson said.
T.R. Miller will run in a home meet Saturday at Brewton Middle School.
As of right now, 10 teams—with possibly more coming— are expected at the September 28 meet at Brewton Middle School. The race is expected to see over 400 runners.
Several teams are coming from Mobile and north Florida.
The start time for the girls will be at 8:30 a.m. and the boys will be at 9:15 a.m. There will be a JV girls and boys after that at 9:45 a.m. 10:15 a.m. respectively. That race will be a two-mile race. The awards will be after that at 10:45 a.m.
Brewton Middle School is located on US 31 North. The address of the school is 1384 Old Castleberry Road.
Trophies will be awarded to the first and second place teams in the varsity and JV divisions. The top-10 in each varsity race will receive Columbia dri-fit shirts.
