While many will be opening Christmas gifts on Christmas Day next week, one local church will giving out their own special gifts.
First Saint Siloam Missionary Baptist Church and the Missionary and Matrons Department of the church will open their doors on Christmas Day, Dec. 25, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. to feed anyone who might be unfortunate to have a Christmas Dinner.
“It was a vision I had to do this,” Carrie Jackson said. “I was over missions two years and wanted to do it then but I didn’t. God wanted me to do it. My time came up to do it again and I have just been trying to do it. It is good because a lot of people have donated things. I just want to help. Anybody really that wants to stop by can come but it is really for the needy.
“God just wanted me to do it and that is what I am trying to do. God helps all of us and I just want to help others.”
Jackson said the church will be handing out food, but before it starts they will have a devotion.
“After the devotion we will be playing Christmas music and just having a good time of fellowship,” she said.
While the church will be feeding anyone, the sick and shut-in can call and meals will be delivered to their home.
“I just want everyone to know they are welcome to come,” Jackson said. “I am ready for them to come and I am looking forward to them coming.”
First Saint Siloam Missionary Baptist Church is located at 1012 Sowell Road in Brewton.
