Mr. Kenneth E. Trea, 68, died Friday, July 20, 2007, at his residence after an extended illness. He was a native of Saginaw, Mich., and former resident of Key West, Fla., before moving to Brewton 33 years ago. He was retired from the U.S. Navy in which he served in the Korean War and Vietnam. He was a member of American Legion Post 79 and was a member of Victoria Christian Center. He was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Doris Trea.
He is survived by four daughters, Paula (Eddie) Thompson of Castleberry, and Cheri (Sam) Coale, Louann (Steve) Smith, and Tina (Randy) Hunt, all of Brewton; two brothers, Dave Trea of Albany, Ga., and Bill Miller of Baton Rouge, La.; three sisters, Dolly Miller of Bay City, Mich., Kathy Schwererin of Bentley, Mich., and Laura Cunningham of Sterling, Mich.; eight grandchildren, Christy Stuckey, Traci Sherrer, Sami Downing, Jeni Coale, Trent Smith, Derek Smith, Taylor Hunt and Ryan Hunt; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 23, at 10 a.m. at The Victory Christian Center with the Rev. Andy Peavy officiating. Burial followed with military honors at New Hopewell Cemetery in Castleberry with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers were Wesley Skipper. Raymond Salter, Steve Messingill, Robert Boling, Joey Blackburn and Wade Langley.
