WSN B-team and varsity defeat Red Level Friday while Lady Eagles fall

Playing in a non-area game Friday night in Red Level, the W.S. Neal Eagle B-team and varsity Eagles picked up wins over the Tigers while the Lady Eagles dropped their contest.
The B-team Eagles improved to 2-10 overall this season with a 29-20 win while the varsity Eagles won 55-51. The win for the varsity Eagles improved their record to 5-13 this season.
In girls action, W.S. Neal lost 43-33. The loss for the Lady Eagles dropped their overall record to 4-13 overall.
W.S. Neal is scheduled to be back in action Tuesday when they travel to Pensacola Christian Academy. All three teams will be back in action Thursday at home against Cottage Hill in an area game before traveling to Bayside Academy Friday for their final area game of the season.
WSN at Red Level:
Red Level outscored W.S. Neal 20-4 in the fourth period as the Lady Tigers beat the Lady Eagles 43-33 in regular-season action Friday night.
Throughout last night’s game, RLS trailed to WSN by single digits.
WSN led 12-8 after the first period, 20-15 at halftime and 29-23 after the third period.
RLS coach Allen Catrett said his team’s fourth period effort is what he wants to see from them for the entire game.
“We had a good fourth quarter,” Catrett said. “I’m proud of the girls for their effort.”
Shelby Holley led RLS with 16 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double. Kayla Hanson had 21 points.
The exact opposite took place in varsity boys action for Red Level.
The Tigers led 18-4 after the first period and 34-20 at halftime. They held a 45-43 advantage going into the fourth, but the Eagles outscored RLS 12-6 in the fourth to win 55-51.
RLS started the game on a 16-0 run.
“We got in foul trouble,” Catrett said was one of the reasons why the Eagles scored 26 points in the second period. “Our nemesis all year long has been the fourth quarter.”
Jeffrey Purdue led RLS with 13 points. William Crawford had 10.
In B-team action, the Eagles won 29-20.
WSN led 7-3 after the first period, 19-5 at halftime and 22-8 after the third period.
