Mr. William Charles “W.C.” Brantley, Sr., 85, of Jay Road, died Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014 in a Pensacola hospice facility after a brief illness.
He was native and lifelong resident of Brewton. He was a W.S. Neal and Auburn University graduate, a retired Project Engineer for CCA, a U.S. Air Force Veteran, an American Legion Member Post #0121, and of the Protestant faith. He owned and operated Brantley’s Texaco for 30 plus years.
He was preceded in death by one son, William Brantley, Jr.; one daughter, Sharon McCurdy; one brother, Bobby Brantley; one son-in-law, Joe Presley.
He is survived by his wife, Lorene Robinson Brantley of Brewton; three daughters, Shirley Presley of Milton, Susan (Jerry) Stout of Brewton, and Dee (Lyle) Pittman of Pace, Fla.; three sons, Steve (Connie) Carpenter of Brewton, George (Chris) Brantley of Brewton and Shawn (Barbara) Brantley of Pace, Fla.; three sisters, Betty Jackson, June (Aubrey) Adams, and Kathleen (James) Davis all of Brewton; 11 grandchildren, Stephanie Milletary, Kelli Pittman, William Brantley, Caroline Brantley, Chris Stout, Austin Brantley, Caffey Hammac, Brant Carpenter, Anne Carpenter, Lance McCurdy, and Greg McCurdy; six great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014, from 10 until 11 a.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Brewton.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel with Shawn Brantley officiating. Interment followed in Odom Cemetery Brewton with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Brewton directing.
