The time they have spent in the gym this summer does not necessarily mean the W.S. Neal Blue Eagles basketball team will win more games next winter, although it will take just one victory to top the goose egg the program endured on the court last season.
At the same, it is certainly a step in the right direction.
The Blue Eagles concluded their summer workout schedule Wednesday. W.S. Neal players usually worked out three days a week for an hour or two depending on the day.
Suitts' late spring hiring limited W.S. Neal to mostly intrasquad work, although the Blue Eagles picked up a scrimmage game against Samson.
Suitts, who coached at Clay-Chalkville last season, was pleased at his summer participation.
Most of W.S. Neal's summer work was limited to the gym.
Suitts, who has coached in the collegiate ranks at Rice and Chicago State, has seen some promising areas, but admits his program, which has lost 29 games in a row over two seasons, has a ways to go.
