Friday’s ECT baseball recaps: WSN and TRM win

In Friday’s Escambia County baseball tournament games in Brewton, both T.R. Miller and W.S. Neal won to stay undefeated in tournament play and overall. The win put both in the championship game Saturday.
W.S. Neal defeated Atmore 10-0 to improve to 5-0 overall and to 2-0 in tournament play while T.R. Miller handed Flomaton a 7-1 loss to improve the Tigers to 3-0 overall and 2-0 in tournament play.
WSN 10, Escambia County 0
W.S. Neal’s Lane Chavers pitched a one-hitter and recorded three strikeouts on the mound to help W.S. Neal shut out Escambia County 10-0 Friday in their second game of the Escambia County Tournament. Chavers had a no hitter through 4 1/3 innings as the Eagles claimed the win in five innings.
W.S. Neal scored one run each in the first and second innings while adding three in the third inning and five in the fourth to get the win.
At the plate for the Eagles of East Brewton, Malcolm Hawthorne had two hits with one being a double. Taylor Elliott added a hit while Tyler Joyner had three hits.
Jared Cooper, Mike Williams, Brandon Carmichael, Nick Laster, Dakota Graves, and Jared Salter all had hits with Williams adding a double.
Jefferson had the lone hit for the Blue Devils of Escambia County.
TRM 7, Flomaton 1
T.R. Miller used a five-run second inning to down Flomaton 7-1 Friday night.
Along with the five runs in the second inning, T.R. Miller added one each in the first and seventh innings while holding Flomaton to only one run in the third inning.
Tripp Floyd, Drew Williams and Ryann Gray all pitched in the win and combined to allow one hit, four walks and struck out 14.
Jones Manning had a single and one RBI while Floyd added a single and a double.
Kyle Davis added a double and a single and one RBI while Chris Jones chipped in a double.
