A Crestview, Fla., couple, wanted on murder charges, was apprehended Saturday in Brewton.
Jeffrey Allen Brandenburg, 26, is charged with an open count of murder, and his wife Amy, also 26, is charged with accessory to murder in the fatal stabbing of 35-year-old Samuel Raheem Foy-Cornish, according to police.
The couple were detained and arrested in Brewton late Monday and arrested early Tuesday by Crestview police investigators with help from the Brewton Police Department, according to a news release from the Crestview Police Department.
Foy-Cornish was found at 7 a.m. Saturday lying along South Ferdon Boule-vard just north of Duggan Avenue. He was bleeding from the upper chest from a single stab wound. Foy-Cornish was taken to North Okaloosa Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
The Medical Examiner’s Office conducted an autopsy and said Foy-Cornish suffered a lacerated aorta, according to police reports.
The Brandenburgs were found after lawmen discovered they had rented a room at the Colonial Manor Motel in Brewton.
A witness told investigators the suspects reported being “ripped off while purchasing narcotics” from Foy-Cornish on the day of the stabbing, police reported.
The witness also told police the Brandenburgs said they saw Foy-Cornish walking down the road and stopped their vehicle. The witness said Jeffrey Brandenburg got out and remained out of Amy Brandenburg’s sight before he returned with blood on his hands.
The witness told investigators that Amy Brandenburg asked Jeffrey Brandenburg what had happened and that he cursed at her and told her to drive away, police reports said.
The witness said later that day Amy Brandenburg contacted her husband, who was in Brewton. He told her to leave their child with his parents and move out of their home in Crestview, according to police.
The Brandenburgs are being held in the Escambia County, Ala., jail while they await extradition to Okaloosa County, Fla.
