A six-vehicle collision involving a log truck snarled traffic and cost the local Ford dealership more than $100,000 in damages Monday.
The accident occurred just after 3 p.m. in front of Jim Peach Ford on Ala. Hwy. 31 South when a late model Chevrolet pickup truck driven by 20-year-old William Goolsby of Brewton pulled into oncoming traffic.
“Mr. Goolsby was coming out of the drive-thru at McDonald’s and never saw the log truck coming,” said Brewton Police officer Toby Anthony. “The driver of the log truck tried to swerve, lost control and turned over on its side.” Anthony said the log truck struck four brand new trucks on the Peach lot.
“But thankfully, no one was hurt during the accident,” he said.
Traffic was rerouted through the Jeff-Davis Community College campus while emergency crews cleaned the roadway of debris.
