It was a clean sweep for the Brewton Middle School, T.R. Miller JV and T.R. Miller varsity volleyball teams Thursday as they traveled to Flomaton and all came back with wins to start the season.
BMS won 2-0 over Flomaton winning set one 25-13 and set two 25-8. No game stats were known as of press time.
In JV action, T.R. Miller won 2-0 winning set one 25-11 and set two 25-8.
In set one, Myra Reiss had five service points, Allie Nelson had nine, Mary Madison Brown had four and Bethany McDonald had three.
In set two, Alexis King had nine service points and Nelson had five.
In varsity action, T.R. Miller won 3-0. The Lady Tigers took set one 25-6, set two 25-18 and set three 28-26.
Amelia Peach had nine service points in set one along with three kills while Lizzy Pollitte had four points, and Grace Ruzic and Caitlyn Smith had three.
In set two, Peach had five service points while Pollitte and Ruzic had four.
In set three, Pollitte had seven and Smith had four.
“All three teams played well tonight,” T.R. Miller head coach Greg White said. “Obviously we have some things to work on, but each team played with great effort and that’s the biggest principle that we are stressing right now. If you give great effort great things will usually follow.”
As for the varsity, White said they did a nice job on the service line Thursday.
“I think that was the difference for us,” White said. “We were pretty consistent all three games. Flomaton had a rough outing in game one but they bounced back in games two and three and played with some toughness which we new they would because they are well coached and disciplined. I was pleased with the character our girls showed after being down in both sets two and three and not panicking. They hung in there and competed and found a way to win both sets.”
