TRM B-team football drops home game to Opp Monday

In a back-and-forth B-team football contest Monday night in Brewton, the T.R. Miller Tigers suffered their first loss of the season and fell to 2-1 overall after the Opp Bobcats claimed a 20-14 win.
T.R. Miller trailed Opp 6-0 with 4:25 left in the first quarter, but took a 7-6 lead after Hunter Brittain’s 1-yard score with 4:54 left in the first half.
Leading by one at the half, T.R. Miller fell behind late in the third quarter as the Opp Bobcats scored on a 20-yard pass play with 10.7 left in the quarter to grab a 12-7 lead.
Brittain scored once again, this time on a 5-yard run with 7:53 left in the game, to put the Tigers up 14-12.
Opp wasted no time reclaiming the lead as they scored on a 12-yard run with 6:20 left in the game to take a 20-14 lead.
A late interception by the Bobcats helped them put the game away to claim the six-point win.
T.R. Miller racked up 11 first downs in the loss to Opp’s 14.
The Tigers finished with 127 yards rushing on 19 carries while the Bobcats had 194 on 32 carries.
Caleb Winton was 7-for-10 passing with two interceptions and 69 yards while Opp was 6-for-8 with 82 yards.
The Tigers tallied 196 total yards of offense in the loss while Opp had 276.
Brittain finished with 63 yards rushing on 11 carries and had two scores in the loss.
Kristian Smith added 17 yards on three carries and Michael Campbell had 53 yards on two carries. Demarquis McMillan added six yards on one carry.
Joshua Jolly had one catch for 22 yards and Joshua Winton had two catches for 11 yards. Brittain had one catch for five yards and Smith had two for 26 yards. McMillan caught one pass for five yards.
