Industries looking to locate in a new area often want to know if a four-year degree program is available.
Brewton officials can now answer &#8220yes” to that question.
Jefferson Davis Community College and Huntingdon College signed an agreement Wednesday that will allow Brewton students to complete a Huntingdon bachelor's degree program in business management at the JDCC campus.
The program offers one class one night per week as a convenient alternative for working adults, said Jay Dorman, vice president for business and finance at Huntingdon. Each accelerated course is completed in five weeks, for three hours of credit. Students who are able to continue the classes with limited interruptions can often finish their degree within 18 months, said Laura Duncan, who oversees the program at its Montgomery campus.
JDCC President Dr. Susan McBride said the business education program is also a &#8220natural extension” of the community college's mission.
Huntingdon officials hope the program can begin at JDCC by next semester. The program is also offered in Birmingham, Montgomery, Enterprise and Baldwin County. Established in 2001, the program has about 200 students at all of its sites, and 67 students graduated with the Class of 2007.
