Local theatre to cast for ‘Alice'

Alice, White Rabbit and the Queen of Hearts will be cast during auditions of the Brewton Community Theatre's next planned presentation, “Alice in Wonderland.”
Auditions for the January production will be held Tuesday, Sept. 11 at 6:30 p.m. on the ASU/Southern Normal campus.
Gleaton said the cast list includes parts for all ages, both male and female.
Gleaton said auditions might take more time than usual since the cast list is extensive. Callbacks may be necessary at the close of the auditions, she said.
Those interested in auditioning for a part in the planned production are asked to be prepared to read from a script. Resumes and photos are recommended, but are not required, Gleaton said.
Cast members will include:
Alice - a young girl; White Rabbit - never on time; Mouse - a long tale to tell; Mock Turtle - not a real turtle, but close enough; Lory - a kind of parrot; Dodo - a strange-looking bird; Red Queen - a chess figure; Soldier One - a playing card; Knave of Hearts - another playing card; Soldier Two - another playing card; Queen of Hearts - a tyrant; Caterpillar - a sleepy sort; Fish Footman - a servant; Frog Footman - another servant; Duchess - a domineering type; Cook - loves pepper; Cheshire Cat - walks about without its grin; Tweedledee - a fat little schoolboy; Tweedledum - Tweedledee's twin brother; Mad Hatter - mad as a March hare; March Hare - made as a Hatter; Dormouse - sleepy-type rodent; Rose - a talking flower; Lily - another talking flower; Daisy - another talking flower; White Queen - another chess figure; Knight - an aged horseman; Humpty Dumpty - a conceited egg; King of Hearts - monarch of Wonderland; Sister - Alice's older sister; Additional citizens - Citizens of Wonderland.
Rehearsals will be planned up to the production date of Jan. 25 and 26, 2008, Gleaton said.
Gleaton said the production will be presented January 25 and 26, 2008 at Jefferson Davis Community College's Patterson Auditorium.
