It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas around Brewton. With a holiday bazaar
Festivities will once again kick-off on Thursday as the Women’s Business Center for Rural Alabama will host a holiday bazaar from noon until 7 p.m. at the Hourglass.
Emmie Jernigan, WBC director, said, “This is a great event not only for our local business community to come and showcase what you do, it’s also a great shopping opportunity for locals with the holiday season approaching.”
Santa photos will be available for purchase for $5. Those photos will appear in a special “Letters to Santa” section produced by The Brewton Standard.
Booth costs range from $35 to $50. One must provide tables; however, lunch will be served.

Then next Thursday, Dec. 11, the annual Christmas parade will take to the streets at 6 p.m.
Santa will arrive on the fire truck throwing tons of candy. Local businesses and civic organizations, in an effort to receive prize money, are being asked to build colorful floats. Mrs. Claus will also be riding in the parade throwing candy as well.
The Chamber of Commerce encourages everyone to please use safety precautions during and after the parade.
The parade will line up in East Brewton. It will travel down Forrest Avenue, over the bridge on Mildred Street, to the main intersection at the railroad tracks. It will turn onto St. Joseph Street to Belleville Avenue and will disband on side streets of McLellan, Rankin and Granberry.

If the parade is cancelled due to inclement weather, a back-up date has been scheduled for Sat., Dec. 13, at 2 p.m.
And as usual, Jennings Park and the City Park is ablaze nightly with holiday lights.
The Blaze show will operate at City Park downtown Thursday through Sunday evenings from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. through the end of the year. Digital programming provides a light show choreographed to music complete with a singing Christmas tree. The program this year includes hits from last year along with new musical numbers and expanded special effects. 
Decorations this year include the animated show in the city park as well as a static light display on the walking trails at Jennings Park.
