TRM varsity boys basketball suffers 60-52 loss to PCHS Tuesday in sub-regionals to end season

Leading Pike County 26-22 at the half, the T.R. Miller varsity boys basketball team was outscored by the Bulldogs 38-20 to take a 60-52 loss Tuesday night in Brundidge in the sub-regionals of the AHSAA state playoffs.
With TRM leading by four at the halftime break, Pike County scored five-straight points to start the second half and take a 27-26 lead.
TRM would grab a 28-27 lead over the Bulldogs later in the quarter only to see PCHS go on a 13-3 run to end the third quarter up 44-32.
Down 12 points with one quarter left to pay, TRM rallied in the fourth quarter. Down 52-37, the Tigers went on a 7-0 run late in the fourth to narrow Pike County’s lead to 52-49.
PCHS would end the game on an 8-3 run to get the win by eight points.
No other stats or game information was known as of press time.
With the loss, TRM ended their season with a 15-10 record.
The 15 wins for TRM tied their win total from the last three years combined. TRM went 5-14 last year, 2-15 in 2012-13 and 8-14 in 2011-12.
TRM’s win combined win total from the last six seasons was 26 after going 6-16 in 2010-11, 0-21 in 2009-10, and 5-17 in 2008-09.
