The discovery of an injured dog inside a Dumpster could lead to criminal charges if the responsible party is found.
According to Renee Jones, the Humane Society of Escambia County’s cruelty investigator, said the animal appeared to have been shot before being placed in the Dumpster.
Jones said the animal was a female mixed breed and was given the name DeeDee by Humane Society staff members after she was rescued.
Staff members at the Brewton animal Clinic humanely euthanized the animal on Monday afternoon.
Jones said the injury to the animal would be considered a class C felony.
Anyone with information regarding DeeDee or her injuries, should contact The Humane Society of Escambia County at 867-6860.
