Things didn’t quite go their way after two were arrested for a recent burglary of the Brewton Burger King.
Sgt. Patrick Caylor of the Brewton Police Department said Tuesday the two, along with another for hindering prosecution, were arrested in connection with the March 5 burglary.
“Thanks to video surveillance, we know the incident occurred in the early morning hours when a male subject entered the business and took cash from the safe,” Caylor said. “There was no forced entry.”
The investigation led to the arrest of 22-year-old Joan McWilliams of Brewton.
“Ms. McWilliams was employed as a breakfast coordinator for the restaurant, so she had access to the property, the keys to the building and the safe combination,” Caylor said. “During our investigation, we were able to ID the male subject as Antonie Lovell Tyrone Carter.”
Carter had been a Burger King employee and was sought until taken into custody Tuesday morning at approximately 7 a.m., Caylor said.
McWilliams and Carter are charged with burglary III and theft of property II. Carter’s girlfriend, 24-year-old Zanetra Maria Reed, was charged with hindering prosecution II. Caylor said Reed denied knowing Carter’s whereabouts prior to his arrest.
