Mrs. Juanita Faye Turner Downing, 65, of Roadway Street, died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2007, at a local hospital after an extended illness. She was a native of Granite City, Ill., before moving to East Brewton 44 years ago. She was a homemaker and a member of the East Brewton Church of God. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arvin Downing; a son, Harry Fortune; and a brother, Beorge M. Turner Jr.
She is survived by a son, Darren Downing of East Brewton; three daughters, Vicky Boyd of Illinois, Tina (Todd) Madden of Brewton, and Lisa (Jerry) Davis of Flomaton; five stepdaughters, Elizabeth (Mack) Stone of Damascus, Carolyn (Roger) Wiggins of East Brewton, Sharon (Ed) Castleberry of Riverview, and Cathy Downing and Robin Downing, both of Illinois; one stepson, Terry Downing of Illinois; four sisters, Mary Woosley, Anita Miller, Wendy White and Toni Tanner, all of Illinois; a brother, Larry Turner of Illinois; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 5, at 11 a.m. at East Brewton Church of God with the Rev. James Sturdivant and the Rev. E.A. Millican officiating. Burial followed at Green Acres Memorial Gardens with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
