A Century, Fla., woman was arrested Friday after she allegedly used her position to obtain fraudulent loans.
Brewton Police Assistance Chief Randy Nicholson said Rachel Marie Stobbs, 25, is charged with second-degree theft of property and identity theft.
“Ms. Stobbs worked at a local loan office and used the identities of customers to fraudulently obtain loans,” he said.
Investigator Patrick Caylor said the crimes were discovered by the loan office, which reported it to police.
“It was during a routine audit when the discrepancies were revealed,” Caylor said. “We’re still investigating, but at this point, the thefts ranges in the thousands of dollars range.”
Stobbs was booked into the Escambia County Detention Center after turning herself into police Friday.
