Neal volleyball wins against PCA, drops against Flomaton

Neal volleyball was in action this past Monday and Tuesday against PCA and Flomaton.
Monday action: Neal vs. PCA
Neal JV would lose in straight sets. The first set would prove closest between the two teams, Neal falling , 22-25. Neal would lose the second set, 15-25, to lose the match.
Neal varsity would beat PCA in straight sets, 25-10, 25-19 and 25-11. Volleyball head coach Jason Blaney likes the way his team put the pressure on their opponent early. “We came out on all cylinders and played great,” Blaney said. “I was proud how we played and was proud of how we were able to get every girl involved in the match.”
Leading the Lady Eagles was Dinah Samuel with 13 service winners, seven aces and seven kills. Marisha Fraser with 13 service winners, three aces and seven kills and Madison Winchester with six service winners, four aces, four kills and 16 set assists.
Tuesday action: Neal vs. Flomaton
Both Neal JV and varsity would fall Tuesday against Flomaton.
JV would lose in two sets, 21-25 and 17-25.
Varsity would lose in three sets, 21-25, 21-25, 21-25.
“Coach Hammond has done great things with Flomaton and they are a great team.,” Blaney said. “They did a great job serving tonight. .We were in each set but errors hurt us really bad. We are hoping to clean up these errors in preparation for the area tournament later this month. We play Satsuma 10/8 and will clean up our play by then.”
Leading the Lady Eagles was Dinah Samuel with nine kills and two blocks and Karissa Johnson with four aces, five service winners, eight kills and a block.
With Monday’s and Tuesday’s matchups the JV record is 5-6. The varsity is 2-11.
Neal will be at home against Satsuma on Thurs., Oct. 9. JV will start at 4:30 p.m. followed by the varsity at 5:30 p.m.
