The flood warning for Brewton’s Murder Creek has been continued until this afternoon.
At 6 p.m. Wednesday, the stage was at 20 feet – two feet away from the 22-foot flood stage. The water way is forecasted to rise above flood stage this morning but quickly drop by the afternoon. At 22 feet, flooding of Persimmon and Ann streets will begin as the creek rises.
The area’s other flood warnings for Big Escambia Creek at Flomaton and Conecuh River at Brewton remains in effect as recent heavy rains have caused significant rises along the river.
Flood stage for the Conecuh River at Brewton is 27 feet. Morning totals show the river is gauging at 24.67 feet; however, it is expected to continue to rise to 28.1 feet or higher by Monday evening.
