The search is on for a new veteran service officer for Escambia County.

The position, which will be located in Atmore, was left vacant following the retirement of Mike Hanks in May.

Posted annual salary for the position is $31,488.

Mandatory eligibility requirements for the position are:

• Must be a current resident of and a qualified/registered voter in Escambia County.

• Must be an honorably discharged veteran with a minimum of 60 days active duty military service during a wartime period.

Minimum qualifications include:

• Two years college with courses in social work or counseling; or extensive office management experience.

• Being proficient in MS Windows 7 and Office 2013 Suite.
