United Fund helps Red Cross fill needs

After a fire or natural disasters, families can be devastated with the loss of food, clothing and shelter. The East Escambia Chapter of the American Red Cross strives to provide basic essential to minimize the devastation.
United Fund dollars help to make the delivery of those services through the Red Cross possible, Martin said.
The funds received from United Fund are used primarily for funding disasters such as single-family fires and other local disasters.
The East Escambia Chapter of the American Red Cross is on-call every minute of the day, Martin said.
The United Fund of Brewton and East Brewton has set a goal of $90,000 for the 2008 fund raising campaign. Currently the group has reached the $60,000 mark and will continue to accept contributions through mid-December.
Sandy English and Barbara Moncrief are serving as United Fund co-presidents for this year's campaign. Other board members include Eric Coale, Mark Manning, Joe Watson, Melanie Harrison, Ann Peach, Marilyn Raines, Adrian Cook, Authurene Davis and Tonya Thompson.
