Miller struggles against Straughn

Down 5-0 in the fourth inning, the Lady Tigers got on board with a double to left field by Grace Ruzic to plate Myra Reiss, who walked earlier in the inning. Janazsia Nettles also scored for Miller to make the score 5-2. Later in the inning Gabbi Solomon singled to right field to score Ruzic. Miller scored another run later in the inning off a wild pitch.
Straughn rebounded in the bottom of the inning generating two runs to take a 7-4 lead.
In the sixth inning, Straughn got things going with a lead off single by Molly Stewart. Stewart stole second, advanced to third on a wild pitch and eventually scored on a fielder’s choice. Straughn scored one more run in the inning to extend its lead by five runs, 9-5. Miller was unable to score at the top of the seventh.
Reiss went 2-for-3 at the plate for Miller. Ruzic was 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.
Stewart was 4-for-4 at the plate and scored three runs for Straughn. Colby Adams led the team with two RBIs.
Taylor Austin pitched six innings and picked up the lost for Miller. Austin allowed seven hits, nine runs, three earned, with two strikeouts.
Sydney Arnett received the win for Straughn, pitching five innings, allowing four runs and striking out seven batters.
