Blueberry vendors needed

It’s nearly blueberry time, and vendors are still needed for the 36th annual Alabama Blueberry Festival.
This year’s festival will be held on Sat., June 18, from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Jennings Park. Shuttle transportation will be provided free of charge by members of New Beginnings.
Judy Crane, executive director of the Greater Brewton Area Chamber of Commerce, said the festival will be a day to remember with arts and crafts, cookbooks, blueberry bushes and crates of fresh blueberries, blueberry t-shirts, free children’s games and activities, live entertainment all day and an antique car show. This year’s T-shirt will feature a new design and will be available for purchase in the coming days.
This year’s feature entertainment will be Brewton native Chris Golden, a country/gospel entertainer.
“This is a great family event because we have something for everyone,” Crane said. “
Crane said local businesses – including home-based businesses, are welcome to set up shop. Deadline to reserve space is June 1 or “until the spots fill up,” Crane said.
Again this year, the famous blueberry ice cream, created by Mobile eatery Cammie’s Old Dutch Creamery, will be available for sale.
“Everyone can remember how sweet that tasted, and it will be made with Brewton blueberries,” she said. “When you’re ready to leave, don’t forget to get a cookbook,” she said.
