Terry Clark has announced his bid for re-election as mayor of East Brewton.
Clark is seeking his sixth term for the office.
“As a lifetime citizen of East Brewton, I hold this community very dear to my heart,” Clark said. “I have a love and passion for its citizens and businesses along with a hope for its future as a whole.
“I, with the support of my wife, Marie Stinson Clark, have been in the position of Mayor for five terms. During my tenure, it has been my privilege to watch the great City of East Brewton grow extensively,” he said.
Clark said during which he has had the opportunity to oversee and be a part of many projects.
“We have been able to open, manage and operate our Senior Citizen site,” he said. “This is a center that offers a place for our seniors to come, socialize, and meet new friends while enjoying a hot meal.
“I have (also) been a part of bringing two larger businesses, Fred’s and Dollar General, into our city,” he said. “These businesses have been able to provide our citizens with a local outlet to meet all their needs while offering jobs und helping our city in tax revenue.”
Clark said the city has also had the opportunity to construct R.T. Johnson Park.
“This park has been enjoyed by hundreds, whether it is the youngest of ball players or the oldest of spectators,” he said. “The park not only offers four baseball fields, it also has a tennis court for our citizens to enjoy, and we currently are in the beginning stages of creating a walking trail. It is a state of the art complex that strives to offer a clean and family friendly atmosphere for all.
“It is important to hold the Fourth of July Celebration each year,” he said. “I enjoy participating with the citizens of our community, having a day filled with activities allowing us to come together celebrating our freedom and ending the night with a spectacular fireworks display.”
Clark said, “As a candidate, I promise to put forth every effort to continue to put the needs and desires of our city citizens on the front line. I promise to continue to build a solid foundation that will ensure that the City of East Brewton strengthens and thrives in its future while going through day-to-day operations.”
