The Brewton Middle School boys started their season with a loss to Escambia County and ended their season with a three game losing streak that concluded with a 61-35 loss to Escambia County Middle School to end their season 6-5.
After jumping out to a 2-0 lead with 4:43 in the first quarter, Escambia County went on an 8-0 run to take an 8-2 lead with 3:31 left.
Brewton went on an 5-0 run to cut the Escambia County lead to 8-7 with 1:59 to go in the first as Tyler Dehoff scored two of his leading 11 points and Darrion Salter scored for the Tigers.
That was the closest Brewton got as Escambia County put together a 7-0 run to close out the quarter leading 15-7.
Escambia County opened the second quarter on another 7-0 run to take a 22-7 before Marc Edge connected for two points for the Tigers to get within 22-9 with 3:32 left in the half.
Brewton cut the lead to 10 points when Dehoff scored with 58 seconds to get within 25-15, but Escambia County held a 27-15 lead at the half.
Brewton again cut the Escambia County to 10 points at 33-23 with 3:01 left in the third quarter, but Escambia County went on an 8-0 run over a 58 second span to go back up 41-23 and hang for a 43-26 lead heading into the last quarter of play.
The fourth quarter was much of the same as Escambia County doubled Brewton's points scored in the quarter and closed out the game on a 8-0 run in the final 51 seconds to take a 61-35 win.
The Brewton Middle School Tigers dropped their second game in a row to fall to 6-4 on the season when they lost to Carver 47-30 Tuesday night at Carver.
Carver was just too much for the Tigers as they had a 24-point outing from one player.
Tyler Dehoff led the Tigers with 12 points.
Girls end with loss
Their season started with a loss to them back in mid November and it ended with a loss to them Thursday night.
That was the case of the Brewton Middle School Lady Tigers season as the only two losses of the season came against the Escambia County Middle School as the Tigers dropped a 38-17 decision in Atmore.
The Tigers fell to 9-2 as they closed out their season.
After falling behind early 6-0 with 5:01 left in the first quarter courtesy of Brewton turnovers, the Tigers finally got on the board at the 3:14 mark as Ashley Autrey scored for the Lady Tigers.
Escambia County continued to frustrate the Tigers as turnovers led to a 10-2 lead with 2:39 left in the first before Tikedra Taylor scored and got the Tigers within 10-2.
That would be all the Tigers points in the first quarter and all the Tigers points in the first half for that matter as Escambia County held the Brewton Lady Tigers to no points while scoring seven to take a 21-4 halftime lead.
Brewton's offense began to generate some points in the third as they outscored Escambia County 9-0 at one point to take a 9-6 scoring advantage in the quarter.
After falling down 27-4 with 4:23 left in the third, Brewton put together a 9-0 run to pull within 27-13 at the end of the quarter.
Taylor Guthrie had two points in the quarter as Jerrica Watson had 5 points. Gerri Samuel added two points in the quarter.
After enduring a 9-0 run to end the third, Escambia County took a 9-0 run of their own to take a 36-13 with 53 second left in the game, but Lauren Bradley got four points for the Tigers in the last minute of the game to get Brewton within 36-17.
Escambia County added a late basket to take the win 38-17.
Jerrica Watson was the leading scorer for the Lady Tigers as she had 5 points.
In Tuesday's game against Carver, the Brewton Middle School girls continued their winning ways with a 32-17 win over Carver Tuesday night at Carver.
The girls lost their very first game of the season, but have since went on to win nine in a row.
