The W.S. Neal Eagles trailed 10-1 going into the bottom of the seventh inning versus Flomaton on Tuesday.

Down but not out, the inning started promising for Neal when Kristian Taylor connected for a solo homer to left field. Following Taylor was a Jennings Hobbs’ triple. After a wild pitch to score another run and a walk, Matthew Thomas drilled a double to right field. A Flomaton error scored another run for Neal to close the Hurricane lead to 10-4, with no outs.

After Flomaton was able to finally get an out via the strikeout, Neal’s Weston Riddle singled home two runs to make the score 10-6. Matt Hutchins followed with a double to left field to score Riddle making the score 10-7.

Taylor returned to the plate in a big way, knocking in Hutchins with a double to left field. A sacrifice fly by Hobbs made the score 10-9, and advanced the tying run 90-feet away for Neal.

In a 0-1 count, Flomaton’s Cruz Odom was able to get P.J. Lovelace of Neal to fly out to right field ending a potentially huge comeback.

Both teams had 10 hits.

Taylor and Riddle each had two hits and 2 RBIs to lead Neal. Matt Thomas was 2-for-3.

Dalton Kent led Flomaton with three hits and 3 RBIs at the plate.

Suffering the loss on the mound was Jacobey Hawthorne. Hawthorne gave up five runs, on four walks and one hit. Hutchins pitched six innings of relief racking up four strikeouts while allowing three runs. Aaron Bosarge closed out in relief of Hutchins, allowing two runs on three hits and one walk.

Cole Brown was the winning pitcher for Flomaton. Brown allowed eight runs, seven earned, on nine hits and three walks. He had six strikeouts. Odom picked up the save.
