Tigers rough up Montevallo

The T.R. Miller Tigers carried its regular season dominance into the first round of the playoffs versus Montevallo with an 8-2 victory in game one, and 14-1 victory in game two.
TRM 8, Montevallo 2
Tiger ace JoJo Booker threw 112 pitches in the win. For his efforts accumulated 15 strikeouts while allowing just three walks and six hits.
Miller got on the board in the first inning with a three-run home run to left field off the bat of Booker.
The Bulldog’s Ahmad Edwards led the second inning off with a double. Edwards later scored Montevallo’s first run on an error. Miller responded in the bottom of the inning with an RBI double by O’Neil White. The Tigers added a run in the fourth inning and three runs in the fifth inning, the biggest blow coming off a two-run scorching line drive to right field by Drew Williamson.
Montevallo scored a run on an RBI single by Cody Posey in the sixth inning.
Nick Thompson suffered the loss on the mound for the Bulldogs. Thompson pitched 5.1 innings and allowed eight hits and six walks. He had two strikeouts.
Williamson led Miller with three hits and 2 RBIs. White was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Russell Smith had a double, steal and scored a run.
Montevallo 1, TRM 14
The Tigers scored three runs in the first inning and never looked back. Joshua Winton pitched the complete game for the Tigers. He had eight strikeouts in the victory.
TRM versus Gordo
The Class 3A No. 1-ranked Tigers will travel to play Class 3A No. 2-ranked Gordo (24-5) this Friday in the second round of the Class 3A ASHAA state playoffs. Gordo defeated Wicksburg in two games in round one. Gordo won game one 6-3, and game two, 17-0.
The matchup between TRM and Gordo is a rematch from last year, in which the Green Wave defeated the Tigers in dramatic fashion in the quarterfinals.
First pitch for game one is scheduled for 4 p.m. Game two will be played at 6:30 p.m. Game three will begin at noon on Saturday if necessary.
