Construction continues at East Brewton school
W.S. Neal High School High School will graduate the Class of 2017 on May 26, at 7 p.m. The graduation is usually held in the Neal Auditorium, but due to construction and renovation, the ceremony will be held in the newly renovated gymnasium.
Though the inside is still a work in progress, Escambia County Superintendent John Knott said the gym’s inside is completed and will be ready for use on graduation.
“We’ll bring in a stage and chairs,” Knott said. “It will have the same number of sitting as the auditorium will hold.
Knott said the auditorium, where began renovations last summer, is coming along.
“It’s a slow process, but it’s coming along,” Knott said. “It wont be finished until the summer.”
The auditorium will house new sitting, stage and stage access.
Parking will be added as well. Yesterday workers began laying the second coat of asphalt near what will be the home of the new football field house.
“We will have ample parking for graduation, which will be a good thing,” Knott said.
The field house is set to be completed this summer.
