The W.S. Neal Lady Eagles picked up a win in its season opener versus Northview, winning in four sets 25-21, 17-25, 25-21 and 25-23.
The win marks the first at WSN for head coach Megan Donald.
“It was amazing to get the win,” Donald said. “I can’t tell you how proud I am of this team. We’ve come so far since our first practice this summer. I just wanted them to learn to work together and give their best effort. I couldn’t ask them to play with any more effort than they did. It feels great to get the job done and have that first win at home.”
Donald said the team showed a lot of chemistry in the match.
“I’m really proud of them coming together and working hard against a good Northview team,” Donald said. “We had the one downfall in the second set, but I think when we got down they realized they had to player smarter and correct their mistakes. Winning is in the small details. It’s awesome how they came back and persevered, playing the game like they know how to do.”
The JV team lost its match versus Northview.
