Brewton Middle School will host its Veteran’s Day program on Thurs., Nov. 9, at 11 a.m. in the gym.

Guest speaker will be First Baptist Church-Brewton pastor Brother Cavin Cawthon. All veterans are invited to attend the ceremony as well as the reception that will follow.

Students are also taking donations for the William F. Green State Veterans Home in Bay Minette. Classes will be writing letters and making cards for the facility’s 150 residents. Requested donation items include:

• non-perishable snack foods such as candy, sugar-free candy, chips, Little Debbie snacks, etc.;

• non-skid socks and slipper socks and diabetic socks;

• electronics such as a portable CD player with headphones;

• clothing such as long sleeve shirts, T-shirts, pajama pants and jogging pants;

• anything patriotic like key chains, stickers, magnets, etc.;

• table games, board games, puzzles and cards;

• small pillows;

• arts and crafts supplies; and,

• anything one might enjoy.
